Update: My brother Jon now owns this 700. I think it’s probably the nicest 700 around.

I built this 2013 Catrike 700 from a frame kit purchased from Bent Up Cycles. I thought that it would be fun to compare the new version of the 700 with the old versions that I’ve owned. I also thought that it might be handy to have at least one recumbent with a mesh seat for long hot rides.

I’ve chosen very similar components to those I used on the 2013 Vortex – Velocity A23 wheels, Ultremo tires, FSA SL-K carbon crankset, Avid hydraulic brakes, etc. I’m using a first generation Catrike seat that I held on to from a previous 700. The new 700 seats are about a pound heavier and I find them less comfortable.
